If you are a returning student, some of these could still apply to you.
1. Take advantage of your resources
There are plenty of resources available on campus to help you succeed not only academically but also in life. Listed below are a few examples.
-Academic: workshops, tutors, and professor office hours.
-Health and wellness: gyms, health centers, and mental counselors.
- Career Centers
2. Set a schedule and learn how to properly balance studying and a social life.
You have to develop time management skills so you can maintain a well-balanced professional and personal life. Calendars and priority lists need to become your best friend. Although the goal is to graduate, get a degree and continue with your life, don’t forget about your social life. Being social will make all the difference during your time in college.
3. NETWORK: Get out and meet people
The people you reach out to and meet can be the same people the help you get a job, an interview or a step closer to where you want to be Professionally.
4. Surround yourself with the type of person you want to be
Having friends that support you and motivate you can make a huge difference. In college, the journey to find yourself is only beginning, and it's nice to have people that can help with the process.
5. Don’t do anything you are uncomfortable with
In college, you’ll find people that do things that you wouldn’t normally do. Yes, it can be hard to not fall victim to peer pressure but it's doable. If you’re not comfortable with something, don’t do it. If the people you are with don’t understand that then they’re probably not your real friends.
