Make that SnapChat filter come to life, girl! In the past, flower crowns were used for wedding traditions and decorative headpieces to represent status in society. Some of us have seen them used as a common accessory, for a “hippie vibe” to an outfit. We’ve seen them at Coachella, and other music festivals in recent years, but the flower crown dates all the way back to the 70s. Once the fashion industry placed its hand on the flower crown, it created a movement for high-fashion looks and retail stores nationwide.

To create your own flower crown, you will need

Bundles of your favorite flowers (artificial flowers)
Flower wire or wire that is easy to cut
Hot glue gun
Hot glue sticks (just in case you need to refill your hot glue gun)
A pair of scissors
*All of these items can be purchased at your local art store or Family Dollar!
Steps:
Measure the size of your head to see how much wire you will need to make the base of the crown

2. Once you have determined the circumference of your crown base, take the lose ends and twist them together around the circle

3. Gather another string of wire to wrap around the base to make it sturdier.

4. Place your flowers around the base of the crown. Consider the strategy of placing the biggest flowers in the front, and smaller flowers around the sides and the back. You do not have to use this strategy, but it will give your crown a more dramatic look.

5. Remove all hot glue “spider-webs”

6.Wear your crown with style!
